BIO.
Fabiano Pita has a bachelor in Animal Science, a master in Animal Breeding, and a PhD. in Genetics and Breeding. His first job was with Newsham Genetics, a provider of swine genetics with headquarters in Des Mojnes, Iowa. Fabiano was responsible for implementation of databases and efficient algorithms to perform daily genetic evaluation of swine breeding populations across the US and Brazil. The ability to use genetic markers in genetic evaluation of breeding populations attracted Fabiano to apply statistics and quantitative genetics in plants populations at Dow Agrosciences in Indianapolis, Indiana where he implemented genomic selection for both US and Brazil hybrid corn breeding programs. In 2014, Fabiano joined Bayer Crop Science in RTP with the mission to establish a Biometrics team to support field crops. Since 2019, Fabiano is the Global Head for Biometrics at BASF Agriculture Solutions in RTP. Fabiano leads a team of experts supporting data analytics and innovation implementation for crops worldwide, provides strategic guidance on data analyses across functions, and develops portfolio of statistical tools and algorithms for superior decision making. Outside work, Fabiano enjoys hiking and gardening.
